"The Atlantic Chair references the architecture of the classic Thonet Café Chair and features a hand-stitched back rest which is an interpretation of 'visible joinery'.Most parts on the chair are steam bent, including the crest, back legs, seat apron, and stretcher. As an expression of quality and understandable construction, we have designed this chair to include exposed joinery, a through-tenon at stretcher to front leg connection. The chair boasts a small footprint and is physically and visually light though deceptively strong and durable and therefore upholds our commitment to quality. The upholstered seat and back rest are vegetable tanned leather; approx. 3/16"" thick. The leather used is vegetable tanned and does not have harmful chemicals. It is an old-world, artisanal process that takes advantage of the tannic acids naturally found in some plant species, by using the barks, branches, leaves and even some fruits in some specific techniques.”
